Thing 10

Creative Commons allows to gather information and use it with with permission.  It gives me the freedom to share information legally.  This will give the teacher license and freedom  to take information or a product that they find and share it with their students and other teachers by acknowledging the original authors.  I have never really paid attention to the CC logo on the websites that I have visited.  This is definitely something that I need to teach my students to do also.  It is important that they learn about fair use.  Th only problem is see with this is getting the students to buy into Creative Commons when they so freely use information from the internet.

Thing 8

I can see myself using a wiki in the future.  They seem like they can be used to share knowledge and collaborate with other people. Since I am a Science teacher, I really enjoyed the the 6th Grade CodeBlue wikispace.  It gave various websites/links to find information on the body systems. Our students would enjoy these.  My only problem is with some of the links, the school or teacher would have to join to get information.  The Primary Math wiki was interesting.  It was set up so that teachers could share interesting lessons that their students were doing.  The only problem with this wiki was that you have to navigate through the teachers blog to get the lessons.  This was time consuming.
I enjoyed the FHS Wolves Den.  It was very easy to follow.  It was a wiki set up for her English and History classes. I like that she kept it updated.

Thing 7

Commenting takes a lot of time.  It allows me to contribute to the discussion by writing  meaningful comments.  There are many things that I can do with blogging like casting a vote on a topic and becoming a part of someone's life. I will have just to get comfortable with just doing the commenting. I think commenting needs to be meaningful but short and to the point.

Thing 6

Having the Google Reader has given me a lot of information.
I am interested in Educational Administration and I was able to get some great information from
Looking for efficiencies – where to start?  and  Attempts to cut salaries or regrade admin staff  .
Both articles deal with ways of finding effieciencies.  It list one of the main ways of dealing with school efficiency and reforming school administration is to cut salaries for administrators.

Another Reader I subscribed to was Science & Social Studies S.C. Red Elementary .  It gave good information on Science TAKS and also some TAKS review games students can play.

Thing # 4

The blogs I have read are:
Why I Don’t Assign Homework
Boeun's Scribe for December 4th
I have learned that there are many different types of blogs.  Blogs can be different genres.  There informal and formal blogs. For the most part, the blogs I read have been informal. They are different than other types of reading because I am reading other opinions on a topic. They are similar because they can give information.  It is also instant communication with several people at a time.  Blogging is different from other types of writing because people can comment on what I post.  Blogging is similar to journaling.  Comments can contributes to the writing because it can help give more meaning to a subject. It gives feedback as well as information about a particular topic.  The use of blogging is an awesome tool because it is a quick way of communicating ideas, thoughts, feelings, and information. It can be a tool to engage more relevant learning in our classes.

Thing 2

My initial thoughts about Web 2.0 is that this is a great opportunity to connect technology to learning.  It will help make learning relevant.  Our students are using technology all the time. Using technology tools in the classroom will help our students become engage in our lessons.   It also promotes creativity and not just a same boring routine.  Things like creating blogs keeps the students and parents informed about what is going on in my classroom.
